Speech Therapy:
Therapy is provided in the home, daycare or school setting.
We serve children that include, but are not limited to the following deficits: Receptive and Expressive language disorders, oral motor therapy, feeding skills, articulation and phonology deficits, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Fluency Disorders, Pragmatic and Social Language Deficits.
What can you expect from us?
When we receive a referral from the pediatrician and/ or Early Interventionist we will call to set up the initial evaluation that lasts approximately 60 minutes where we will gather information about your child. The majority of the evaluation will be composed of parent/caregiver interview. We will then collect the information to type up an evaluation and plan of care and will follow up with your EI in order to set up a meeting to officially add speech to your child’s plan of care and we will review the evaluation results. Your child may be seen for one or two times a week for 60 minute sessions pending recommendations from your therapist.
The type of therapy we will provide will depend on the child and the current needs of the child. Most of our therapy is play therapy. As the child progresses and becomes more comfortable with the child we will gradually increase demands and this will look different for each child. For your child to be successful in therapy and to progress with their individual goals it is very important to know that your child’s growth in therapy will strongly depend on how these goals and home recommendations are implemented daily into the family routine. Our therapists may only be providing therapy one hour or even only two hours a week. This alone will not help your child reach their maximum potential. This is a team approach and how involved the parents / caregivers are will be vital in their development.
